First Black and White Film

I just scanned my first roll of black and white film since probably 2002 or so and I’m actually really happy with how they turned out. Sometimes I find myself converting lackluster color images to monochrome as a sort of crutch, but it’s a different experience entirely to take the photograph with a black and white image in mind in the first place.

All photos taken on Kodak Tri-X 400 with an Olympus XA4 point-and-shoot film camera from the 80s. Surprisingly nice camera for such a small thing. I might make a review of it on my newly-refreshed YouTube channel at some point, but in the meantime, here are a handful of photos from that first black and white roll.
