Postcards from Alaska

Hi hello :)

In late May, I spent four days in Southeast Alaska, whale watching, hiking, and wandering with my camera. Alaska had always felt so far away—the kind of destination I'd save for when I could spend weeks, or even months, exploring. But living in Seattle, I realized it's just a two-hour flight to Juneau. So I stopped putting it off and went to get a taste of this wild place. And what a place! Dozens of humpbacks (including a calf that breached something like thirty times in a row), orcas completely surrounding our boat, a black bear with three cubs, more eagles than I’ve ever seen in one place, enormous glaciers… I’m still planning on taking that epic multi-month Alaska adventure one of these years, but this short trip gave me an incredible taste of what this massive state has to offer.

Hope you’re well,

Brian
