Postcards from New York City
In late March, I spent four days exploring and photographing NYC. I actually lived in New York about ten years ago (after grad school, I spent a couple years doing a fellowship with the CDC and was stationed there helping work on controlling tuberculosis outbreaks—a story for another day). I wasn’t doing a lot of photography then, but even so, I still loved getting on the train, picking a new neighborhood that I hadn’t been to yet, and just going for a walk to see what I could find. I stumbled upon some really interesting places, especially in the outer boroughs—areas that the vast majority of tourists just don’t make it out to. It’s just too big of a city to see it all, especially on a short trip.
So, on this first trip back in many years, I went for long walks again around parts of Queens, Brooklyn, and Manhattan and took a quick trip down and back on the Staten Island Ferry, bringing my camera along for the ride, of course.
It was a wonderful trip and I’m excited to share a selection of the photos with you here.
Hope you’re well,
Brian
