High Divide and Seven Lakes Basin

There’s a slight chill in the air (plus some wildfire smoke, still) and the mountains are starting to pop with oranges and reds and maroons as the fall colors emerge. I recently spent a couple days on a solo backpacking trip in Olympic National Park, hiking about 20 miles on the High Divide and Seven Lakes Basin trail. One of the most popular backcountry trails in the park, it takes a bit of luck to snag a coveted permit and I’m grateful to have finally been able to explore this section of the Olympic Peninsula.
