Postcards from 2023
2023 was a big year. In February, I switched from being a full-time employee to being 100% self-employed (splitting my time between photography and some analytics consulting work). With this newfound flexibility, I had to re-figure out a new routine for my photography work: how often to go, for how long, where to travel, etc. I experimented with several different variations (almost bought a van, toyed with the possibility of quarterly international trips, etc., etc.) before ultimately settling on one weeklong trip per month (and just here in the PNW). That was a surprisingly difficult cadence to figure out, but has ended up feeling good and sustainable (this is key).
I fit in almost 20 dedicated photo trips in 2023 around Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia and have shared a handful of my favorite images from the year below. Many of these were featured in behind-the-scenes videos on my YouTube channel.
Thank you all for your support, in all the forms that it takes. I appreciate you following along and can’t wait to share what I get up to in 2024.
